The preconditions to economic zoning related to differences in organization of the flint processing can be detected in the South of Dnepr-Don interfluve area in the Upper Paleolithic. The rich sources of raw flint of cretaceous genesis promoted formation of micro-districts a number of workshops in the Donbas area where the surplus products were made. Also the workshops for maintenance of internal needs of local populations of hunters-collectors appeared. Such micro-districts were revealed in the Southern and Northwest Donbas. The circle of the Upper Paleolithic workshops includes the Vydylykha’s site at the middle SeverskiiDonetsRiver. The site was excavated during 2004–2005. The occupation layer of the workshop lies in the fossil soil in loess-like loam at the depth about 2 m. The dating of the fossil soil with the cultural remains is about 18–15 kyr BP (border of oxygen-isotope stage 3–2). The cultural remains are concentrated in small accumulations of the primary splitting products. A considerable quantity of flints can be combined in refitting models. They demonstrate an order of preparation and splitting of the lithic cores to plates. The face chipping of plates was the most frequently used way of chipping. One half-finished lithic core (refitting model 1, excavation II) is similar to the classical lithic core-gigantolithics of the Upper Paleolithic. The technology of flint plates making is obviously related to so-called gravettoid technologies of lithic core splitting.
